ABOUT THE WRITING FAE

It all started in a coffee shop meeting with two of the Founding Faes, Corazon and Winnie. Both share a strong desire to create a place that would uplift diverse voices within their community. Conversations flowed over cups of coffee, and each discussing the lack of representation and the need for a space where every narrative could flourish.

They envisioned a literary magazine that could serve as a bridge between different cultures, groups, and communities, highlighting unique stories and experiences and people all under one magical scope and umbrella . This seed of an idea grew into a passionate commitment to foster a sense of belonging and understanding among readers, writers, creatives, and contributors.

Corazon and Winnie believed that by amplifying underrepresented voices, they could not only encourage a safe space to those who were needing one but also celebrate the richness of diversity of those very communities. They wanted the literary magazine to be more than just pages filled with drowning words; they envisioned it as a living breathing entity that would expand and create a place of connection within the local Charleston Area community.

With a set plan and enthusiasm, they gathered like-minded individuals, Georgia and Angela, who shared their vision. Soon, writing workshops and open-mic nights were organized, allowing artists and poets to share their stories and engage with one another.

Through the bringing of this literary journey, it became clear that the magazine was not solely about publishing content; it was about nurturing relationships, fostering creativity, and encouraging personal growth within every creative. They wanted to cultivate a supportive environment, that aimed to empower writers and readers alike.

The magazine soon got contributors from all walks of life, encouraging submissions that challenged norms and celebrated authenticity and sully over looked voices. Their goal has always been to create a tapestry of voices that resonate with the diverse and beauty Charleston community. They wanted to give everyone a chance to be heard.

Today, The Writing Fae magazine is a true manifestation of their vision. It continues to thrive, driven by a love for storytelling, magic, and the unwavering belief that every voice matters. The Founding Fae remain deeply connected to the community all across the East Coast of the United States, working every month to ensure its growth and promote diverse perspectives and fairies!
