Georgia Nubia

Nyisha Henry, originally from Macon, Georgia, relocated to Charleston, South Carolina in 2016 to pursue her dreams of becoming a poet. Embracing her creative spirit, she adopted the name Georgia Nubia and emerged as a versatile entrepreneur, channeling her talents into Spoken Word, poetry, and art to impart purpose to her life. Nyisha has self-published five books of poetry, some of which include photography and short stories, such as “The Heart of Georgia,” “Complex Compositions,” “Affirming the Beast,” “Inside Georgia’s Dome,” and “Unpacking.”

Her artwork has reached audiences in 16 states, and in 2022 she was honored as an award-winning MOJA artist. Currently, she works as a Specials Teacher, instructing students in Entrepreneurship, Social Studies, and Science, while also serving as a homeschool instructor specializing in Creative Writing. Although she never envisioned working with children, Nyisha finds it to be the most rewarding experience of her life.
